So, as farcical as it sounds, we Canadians had an election on Tuesday. Yes that is right. Amongst all the American comical undercutting that is referred to as politics, Canadians across the nation partook in their Democratic right and voted. Although, it is a sad realization that this year, on October 14th, only 41.9% of the Canadian population exercised their right. Of the 32,976,026 people that live in this country, only 23,401,064 of those are actually registered to vote. 13,832,972 is the number of Canadians that actually decided to do so. Literally, in a nutshell, the ads for voting explain it so clearly. Voting is Power. Canadians have the power to make a change. But more than half the population are either too lazy or couldn't bother to spend the little time it takes to vote.
One would think, in the time that we are living in now, Canadians would JUMP at the chance to make a change. This years voter population was lowest it has been since 1968.
I understand if there are those certain individuals that do not agree with any of the parties. But that does not make up for the rest of the population that could not get into their cars and drive.
The polls were open until 9! And for the entire day.
It just pisses me off that our Prime Minister could actually be a good leader and not a complete wanker. People's ignorance is not a reasonable answer. But, then again, it could be a complete Majority for Stephen Farper.
I don't know what to think of this.
